Rev. Rodney Amos | Lead Pastor

Pastor Rod came to Faith Journey Church (then called Omaha Central) in July 2015.  He has previously served as lead pastor in various churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas over the last 25 years.  Pastor Rod preached his very first message at the age of 15 and became a pastor at his first church when he was 22.  He enjoys communicating the timeless truth of God’s Word in ways that are relevant and creative, while practically applying them to aid in becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ.

Pastor Rod’s passion can be summed up in one word: Connect. His desire is to create an atmosphere where people can experience God by connecting with him through engaging worship, prayer and preaching.  He desires to connect with people in the church through genuine and authentic relationships.  And he wants to connect with the surrounding community by practically demonstrating the unconditional love of Christ and his life transforming power, in tangible ways.

Pastor Rod is married to Tammy and they have two talented children, Hannah and Joel.  Rod says that he is blessed to have Tammy, Hannah and Joel serving along side him in the church, "as we do our part in making church a place you want to go rather than a place you have to be.”

Rev. H. Mark Else | Pastor of Visitation and Outreach

Pastor Mark has served in ministry of the Church of the Nazarene for more than thirty-nine years. A fourth-generation Nazarene, he grew up in Iowa and was active in his local Nazarene church and the Iowa District NYI. At the age of 14, he preached his first sermon.

During college, Mark married Paula (Dayhoff), a “missionary kid” from South Africa. Upon graduation they moved to Bridgeton NJ where he began his ministry as a staff pastor of Youth and Music/worship. A year later they moved to Hastings, Nebraska where, again, he served as a staff pastor for 2 years before moving to Kansas City to attend Nazarene Theological Seminary. During seminary, he pastored a country church in Missouri and was ordained in 1985. He later pastored in Iowa, Northwest Illinois, Chicago suburbs, and Omaha, serving more than 37 years all together as a pastor.

Passionate for world missions, he has ministered in Mexico, Trinidad, France, and Poland. He also served on several District Boards and Councils, including as the District Nazarene Youth International Treasurer in Iowa, Chicago Central District Nazarene Missions International President, and Nebraska District Sunday School & Discipleship Ministries International Chairperson.

Mark was involved in the local communities where he pastored. Of particular interest, he was asked to serve on 2 organizational committees to start a 24-hour Christian radio station in Iowa. In Illinois, he volunteered as a hospital chaplain. While pastoring in Omaha he was asked to conduct weekend worship services at a newly-developed retirement community. Today, in addition to serving Faith Journey Church as Pastor of Visitation and Outreach, he is a part-time chaplain at 4 assisted living centers and 1 memory care facility.

Mark and Paula recently celebrated 41 years of marriage. They have two married children and six grandchildren.

Jeff Edwards, Jeanette Loscutoff, Tom & Cory O'Connell |
Youth Ministry Team

Faith Journey Church has always approached ministry to teens from a "team" perspective. Tom, Cory, Jeanette and Jeff have served together for over seven years revealing to teens the person of Jesus Christ, teaching them Biblical truth and exemplifying God's love in everyday interactions.

All four either have had or currently have their own teen children involved in youth group.

They each bring unique "giftings" to the ministry:

  • Tom is the group's tech guy and Mr. Fix-it. He engages easily with the teens, helps facilitate discussion in small groups and loves participating in every game and activity the teens do no matter how crazy, messy or absurd!

  • Cory teaches and is an awesome small group leader and develops ideas for projects and activities. She also jumps in playing games and enjoys interacting with the teens.

  • Jeanette teaches, facilitates small groups and is the ministry's resident "Bible scholar." She also joins in the "fun-n-games."

  • Jeff teaches and maintains overall organization and communication for the ministry.

The four share various interests including sports, healthy living, Nebraska football and a passion to help teens know and experience the love of God!

Lori Ponec | Director of Children’s Ministries

Lori has been in the Faith Journey family since her youngest child was born. She loves that her children have had so many fantastic mentors in this church. She has taught Wednesday evenings as well as Sunday children's church and directed the program. She wants kids to come to church because they want to learn more about Jesus not just because Mom and Dad want them too. She tries to make each lesson something that all the elementary children can get a message from and take home and share with the family. Lori has many wonderful volunteers that make this program work.

What does she do in her spare time? She has a horse named Bella and loves to spend time with her. She also enjoys riding her motorcycle and growing and canning her own produce. She has an amazing husband and three great kids. She is blessed.
